The architects of Knight Architects, together with the engineers of AKT II
developed and put into operation an original pedestrian bridge in
London’s Paddington. The main feature of the bridge is the fact that it
operates as a hand fan.
The bridge consists of five steel beams that go up and down one by
one, creating the hand fan effect. The first beam is raised to an angle
of 70 degrees. The total length of the bridge is about 20 meters, and it
was design this way to allow passing of vessels through the channel.
